Studies of Aqueous Resins V. Characteristics of Films Formed from Polyesters Containing Polar Groups

1992
Water-borne polyesters which provide flexible films having a high resistance to water have been designed. From such hydrophobic polyesters, both stable aqueous dispersions and clean solutions were prepared for making films. Melamine resin was used as a crosslinking agent. Characteristics and compositions of cured and uncured polyester films were compared and discussed in terms of contact angles to water and elemental distribution on the surface of the films analyzed by ESCA.
