Ganancia ponderal excesiva de peso gestacional como factor de riesgo para el desarrollo de macrosomía fetal en gestantes del Hospital Regional Docente de Trujillo

2020
Objective: To determine if weight gain is the risk factor for the development of fetal macrosomia in the Regional Teaching Hospital of Trujillo. Materials and methods: Observational, analytical, retrospective study of cases and controls, in which 378 clinical histories of pregnant women admitted to the Gynecology and Obstetrics Service of the Teaching Regional Hospital of Trujillo (HRDT) during the period July 2012 - June 2017, of which 126 were cases (macrosomia) and 252 controls (not macrosomic). Results: The percentage of pregnant women with the weight gain of a gestational weight who developed fetal macrosomia was 46.50%. Within the group of the exceeded gain, the proportion of cases between those who developed fetal macrosomia and the one who did not, was 1: 1.68. It was found that excessive weight gain of gestational weight increases 2.97 times more the risk of developing fetal macrosomia compared to patients without an excessive weight gain of gestational weight (OR: 2.97, CI: 95%: 1.91-4.63). Conclusions: Excessive weight gain is a risk factor for the development of fetal macrosomia in the Regional Teaching Hospital of Trujillo
