Study on the roles and mechanism of cervical sympathetic block in the treatment of severe burned rats.

2010
Objective: To determine the feasibility of cervical sympathetic block (CSB) for the treatment of severer burned rats. Methods: SD rats were divided into Control, Burned and CSB groups. The roles of CSB were evaluated by comparing mortality, heart rate, blood pressure, concentrations of Glucocorticoid and Epinephrine in blood were detected. Results: Mortality in CSB group decreased significantly compared with the Burned group, CSB group kept got a better control of blood pressure. concentrations of Glucocorticoid and Epinephrine after CSB were lower than those of Burned group. Conclusion: CSB is an effective therapeutic approach for the treatment of severer burned rats. Keeping homeostatic restoration of HPA axis maybe the way to work.
