Improved Flux-Concentration Type Electromagnetic Pump Based on Controlled Eddy Currents.

The electromagnetic pump proposed by the authors is concerned with the magnetic shielding effect by eddy currents in conductive plate. In this paper, we discussed the shape of the copper plate to control eddy currents by FEM analysis and the measured results. The proposed T-shape plate improves the shielding effect and the eddy-current losses compared with the preceding pump. In the closed circulating system for liquid alloy metal, we also confirmed the improvement of the thrust force.
