Przekraczanie granic: uwarunkowania sukcesu kobiet w poznaniu

2012
The problem of women’s participation in the development of science and their novelty are all too often neglected due to the fact that women are seen as immensely engaged in everyday life, privacy and mediocrity. In the article I present cases of outstanding Polish scientists, whose discoveries and achievements were considered to be significant for various branches of knowledge. This fact contradicts sex stereotypes. Among presented researchers are representatives of both exact and social sciences, who transgress the figure of an ‘invisible assistant.’ Those are: Maria Cunitia, Maria Sklodowska-Curie, Jozefa Joteyko, Maria A. Czaplicka, Roza Luksemburg, and others who made an extreme cognitive effort. Intersectional analysis of biographies and generations is a basis to reflect on the most substantial conditions of women’s success in science in the past and today.
