Method and apparatus for servicing messenger in home network system

PURPOSE: A messenger service method in a home network system and an apparatus therefor are provided so that users of inter-different digital display devices transmit an instant message and talks to each other in the home network system based on an HAVi(Home Audio/Video interoperability). CONSTITUTION: A plurality of digital display devices(200,210) are connected to a home network(100). The digital display devices(200,210) have applications(201,211), messenger FCNs(Functional Component Modules)(203,213), tuner FCMs(205,215) and display FCMs(207,217). The applications(201) are operation programs of the home network(100). The messenger FCNs(203,213) transmit a certain message and state information, and perform a messenger service. The tuner FCMs(205,215) control the reception of a broadcasting signal. The display FCMs(207,217) control the display of the received broadcasting signal and the display of the instant message and state information received through the messenger FCNs(203,213).
