Protective effects of rosiglitazone on acute lung injury

2013
Rosiglitazone(RGZ), a ligand of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ, plays an important role in regulation of lipid metabolism, glucose homeostasis, cellular proliferation and differentiation. Recently, the beneficial effects of rosiglitazone on acute lung injury have been att racted great att ention. It has been shown that rosiglitazone possesses the properties of anti-oxidation and anti-infl ammation, which account for the beneficial effects of rosiglitazone on protection of endothelial cells, decrease of vascular permeability, promotion of lung maturation and reduction of pulmonary fibrosis.
