Instilação de lidocaína na córnea equina – Relato de caso

2015
A three-year-old mare pierced the left eye and was attended after three days with ophthalmomyiasis and prolapse of iris. Despite the tranquilization, neuroleptoanalgesia, n. auriculopalpebral and n. frontal block, there was still eye movement. Then, 2 ml lidocaine 2% was instilled directly on the cornea, which garnered 15 minutes of eyeball paralysis. It is concluded that the lidocaine instillation on the cornea promoted eyeball motor blockade of short duration and allowed to handle the cornea of adult horse not maintained under general anesthesia. Furthermore, had vision loss and lidocaine did not generate additional damage.
