The etiological models of posttraumatic stress disorder

2010
: The author summarizes the social-cognitive, behavioral, information processing and psychobiological models of PTSD. All the theories assume that PTSD symptoms are mainly caused by the unique characteristics of trauma memories and the difficulty of integrating them into the other autobiographic memories. Thus integrating the trauma into the other autobiographic memories plays a crucial role in the therapy of trauma.
