wCloud: “Workshop Cloud” Computing System for Enabling Automotive Control Design in a Collaborative Way

Abstract The complexity of both software and hardware used in automotive control design which is implemented in electric control units (ECU) is increasing. Model based development (MBD) is anticipated to improve productivity in the ECU development, substituting long adopted hardware-based development methodologies. In MBD it is necessary to have all of models to simulate an ECU. Therefore it is crucial to have sufficient of the model. Also collaboration is required when adapting MBD in the automotive industry. Creating a model-exchange market was proposed to accelerate the reusability of models and increase their availability. In this paper we present wCloud (workshop cloud), a cloud based development environment. It contains tools, models, and data that aid in the development of ECU. In the wCloud models are used instead of owned as well as tools and computing resources.
