A process for increasing the molecular weight for polyamides

A method for the condensation of polyamides with a compound having at least two carbonate units is characterized in that the polyamide due to manufacturing 5 to 500 ppm phosphorus in the form of an acidic compound containing compound and the polyamide is from 0.001 to 10 added wt .-% of a salt of a weak acid, whereby the inhibiting effect of the phosphorus compound is canceled.
