In the Dutch municipality Aalsmeer 350 dwellings will be built at the site `Landgoed Kudelstaart` in the period 1999-2002. Decisions must be taken to decide what type of energy infrastructure will be designed and which energy performance standard (EPN, abbreviated in Dutch) must be applied for this area. The consequences of six energy supply options were determined. The options are the use of natural gas and electricity (reference option), all-electric, and four heat supply variants (gas engine or electric heat pump as the source and conventional heat distribution networks or mini heat distribution systems). Every option is calculated for EPN=1.0 and EPN=0.8. The reference option was calculated for EPN=1.2. The energy supply options were tested for lowest costs, lowest emission, possibilities to change to a sustainable energy supply, and little consequences for the implementation of the options. 37 refs.
