Angiographic Lesion Complexity Score and In-Hospital Outcomes after Percutaneous Coronary Intervention

2015
Abstract Objective Wedevised apercutaneous coronaryintervention (PCI) scoringsystembasedonangio-graphic lesioncomplexityandassessed itsassociationwith in-hospital complications. Background Although PCI isfinding increasing application inpatients withcoronaryartery disease,lesioncomplexitycan leadtoin-hospitalcomplications. Methods Datafrom3692 PCI patients were scoredbasedonlesioncomplexity,defined bybifurca-tion, chronictotal occlusion,type C,andleftmainlesion,alongwith acutethrombusinthepresenceofST-segmentelevationmyocardialinfarction(1point assigned foreachvariable). Results Thepatients’meanagewas67.5+/-10.8years;79.8%weremale.Abouthalfofthepatients(50.3%)presentedwithanacutecoronarysyndrome,and2218(60.1%)underwentPCIforatleastonecomplexlesion.Thepatientsinthehigher-riskscoregroupswereolder(p 3.0g/dL(3.1%,11.0%,13.1%,10.3%,28.6%,p <0.001);
