Minority carrier lifetime improvement in silicon through laser damage gettering

Minority carrier lifetime engineering in silicon through application of high power laser beams is described. Minority carrier lifetime distributions in silicon wafers are substantially improved through laser damage gettering. Laser operating conditions to obtain optimum lifetime distributions in silicon wafers are given.
