This paper presents a visual surveillance system forthe automatic scene interpretation ofairport aprons. Thesystemcomprises twomodules-SceneTracking andScene Understanding. TheSceneTracking module, comprising a bottom-up methodology, andtheSceneUnderstanding module, comprising a video eventrepresentation andrecognition scheme, havebeendemonstated tobea valid approach forapronmonitoring.
