Electric conductivity of liquid argon, krypton and xenon under shock compression up to pressure of 90 GPa

2001
Liquid Ar electric conductivity equal to ∼104(ohm⋅m)−1 at pressures up to 70 GPa and liquid Kr and Xe conductivity of about 6⋅104(ohm⋅m)−1 at pressures up to 90 GPa have been experimentally measured. Zones of exponential dependence of electric conductivity on temperature were detected. These zones allowed to determine the energy gaps values: (14.8±0.4) eV-in argon, (11.1±0.8) eV-in krypton and (7.6±0.5) eV-in xenon. A conclusion about Xe and Kr metallization under pressures of more than 40 GPa and ⩾70 GPa, accordingly.
