Caracterização das doenças nodulares tireodianas do ambulatório de endocrinologia da SCMRP

2020
The thyroid gland is often affected by nodules. About 10% of thyroid nodules are malignant. Thorough anamnesis and detailed physical examination with an emphasis on cervical examination and palpation of the thyroid are essential in the investigation of possible malignancy of the nodules. Complementation with laboratory and imaging tests, with emphasis on thyroid ultrasound, are essential for the indication of aspiration biopsy (FNAB) with greater precision and, consequently, for the indication of thyroid surgery in selected cases. In this study, we observed a higher prevalence of nodular disease in older women, the vast majority being non-toxic multinodular goiter, but with extremely poor ultrasound description. Knowing the profile of patients is essential to optimize the use of available resources, as well as having a positive impact on the clinical outcome of this pathology.
