Constitutional psychology of men with mental and behavioral disorders

2015
The aim of the current study is to examine features and correlations of psychodynamic, somatic and dermatoglyphic constitutions of men with paranoid schizophrenia and of men with delinquency of the violent type. Methods: psychodiagnostic tests («Big5», «Hand-test», BPAQ), anthropometry; dactyloscopy, correlation and discriminant analysis. Study groups: 25 men with paranoid schizophrenia, 27 men having no mental diseases, 180 men convicted of violent crimes, 60 men having no criminal and administrative offense record. The following markers of paranoid schizophrenia were found: low levels of «extraversion», «openness to experience» and «agreeableness»; as well as small chest and hip circumferences, low frequency of «ulnar loops», the presence of the «double loop» pattern, and «whorl» pattern on the third finger of the left hand. Besides high levels of aggression and aggressiveness, the markers of delinquent behavior include high levels of «neuroticism» and «openness to experience» along with low levels of «extraversion» and «agreeableness», as well as high frequency of a complex «whorl» fingerprint pattern and low frequencies of «arch» and «radial loop» occurrence. The classification functions were developed. The functions allow classifying the subjects to the group of men with paranoid schizophrenia and the group of men with delinquent behavior with the 80-90% rate of correct classification.
