The invention provides a WLAN system and a method for realizing uplink and downlink coverage matching in the WLAN system. The method includes the following steps that: the transmission rates of uplink management frames and downlink management frames in a process in which a WLAN terminal is associated to a wireless access point (AP) are adjusted, and the transmission rate of the downlink management frames is made to be greater than the transmission rate of the uplink management frames; and based on the adjusted transmission rates of the downlink management frames and the uplink management frames, the process in which the WLAN terminal is associated to the wireless access point (AP) is executed. With the WLAN system and the method for realizing uplink and downlink coverage matching in the WLAN system of the invention adopted, the problem of mismatching of the uplink and downlink coverage in the prior art can be solved, and the user experience can be greatly improved.
