The preparation process comprises the steps: a left half steel mould and a right half steel mould are tightly matched together to form a plurality of arranged cavity structures, each cavity structure is same as the combustion body in shape; when the left half steel mould and the right half steel mould are closed, the cavity structures are filled and compacted, then punching is carried out; and finally, the left half steel mould and the right half steel mould are loosened to obtain the inverted incense. According to the inverted incense obtained by adopting the preparation process, because a longer path where smoke passes through is eliminated, thus the heat carried by the smoke is greatly reduced; and in addition, the smoke outwards disperse from the circumference of the bottom of the incense, thus the smoky effect is favorably formed.
