Developing an Honors Program in Nursing through the NFLA Experience

Outcomes: The NFLA Project Team has: • Published an encyclopedia entry on honors education and has an article in press on the history of nursing honors and implications for honors program development; • Created a mission, vision, name, logo, program model (based on interprofessional education), and program outcomes; • Devised application and admission criteria for admission of the first cohort in Fall 2016; • Developed a comprehensive honors curriculum aimed at providing the student a choice of focus on research, clinical practice, or service learning.
