EFFECTS OF Ce ON EMBRITTLEMENT AND CRYSTALLIZATION OF AMORPHOUS Fe_(76)B_(15)Si_9 ALLOY

1995
Effects of micro-addition of Ce on annealing embrittlement and crystallization of Fe76B15Si9 metallic glasss have been studied. Micro-addtions of Ce obviously affect the susceptibility to embrittlement of Fe76B15Si9 metallic glass and form stable particles in strips by reacting with impurities; these particles act as nucleating center and accelerate the inhomogeneous nucleation, and as a result, lower the crystallization onset temperature for amorphous Fe76B15Si9 alloy; but do not affect the sequence and resultants of crystallization.
