Resonances of nuclear molecule 28Si–28Si

2010
Abstract Resonances observed in the 28 Si + 28 Si collision are studied by a molecular model. At high spins, a stable di-nuclear configuration is found to be equator-equator touching one. Energy spectrum of the normal modes around the equilibrium is shown. These modes are expected to be the origin of the large number of resonances observed. Theoretical analyses for the angular distributions and the angular correlations are given and are compared with the recent experiment performed in Strasbourg.
