A Novel Hybrid Power Control Topology for Control of an isolated Micro-Grid System

2021
In this age of energy crisis, generation of energy from renewable and isolated sources has become inevitable. But power control in small and low cost isolated systems has been a challenging aspect. This paper includes a new topological concept which could be found useful for power generation control and also can be utilized for hybridization of different renewable power sources. The work is based upon designing a hybrid power controller using a nine switch converter for an isolated SEIG based generation system. The hybrid power controller consists of a series and a shunt compensator. The series compensator part is used as an electric spring to maintain a constant voltage across the critical load whereas; the shunt compensator is used to interface a PV generation system with the SEIG system. Separate control structures are developed for the control of the series and shunt compensators. The results are discussed in the work. The whole simulation work is done in MATLAB/Simulink environment.
