O ganho de peso excessivo no pós-parto na perspectiva das mulheres atendidas na atenção básica de saúde de Manguinhos

In the last decades the cases of excessive weight gain in the population that comes advancing has been characterized as a plague to public health. In relation to women, theresearch shows that the increase of overweight and obesity prevalence occurred with the poorer. From gestation, there is the need of a bigger care with women, imposing a higherattention from other areas such as nutrition. The health and nutrition of a woman during her gestation still possess a focus about the increase of necessities of the gestational period. The goal of this research is to analyze, the meanings of the excess of body weight during the postpartum period in the perspective of women who reside in Manguinhos, that are attendedin two basic health unities. The research was characterized as descriptive, of fundamental qualitative approach in the interpretative perspective. Seventeen women with weight excess who were during the first year postpartum were interviewed. To the women of Manguinhos, the difficulties faced, among them poverty and violence, showed how these situations interfere in their feeding. The difficulty in obtaining food, the information about health received by relatives, by medical teams and what is displayed by the media showed toexercise an influence about these women's food practice and how these practices are reflected on their bodies and perceived by them. The excessive weight gain influenced women's healthbeyond biological aspects. The non-acceptation of their own body was an observed aspect and the gestation came as a great cause of this negative body change, where the body weight reflected not only corporal weight, but also all weight that women carries on their shoulders, like her domestic work and everyday's difficulties.
