On the effect of space charge generation caused by evaporation

Previous experimental investigations of space charge generation caused by evaporation of water are very contradictory. Both well marked effects and no effect have been reported. By introducing a new technique of investigation and simulating conditions in the free atmosphere, it is shown that within the accuracy of measurements, estimated to better than 10 fAm2, no such effect could be found.
