Collection of chromium (III) by sulfite and sisulfite chitosans

AbstractChromium (III) collection on sulfite (CS) and bisulfite (CBS) chitosans was investigated in order to obtain information about chromium recovery from tannery wastes from the chromium leather process. Collection of Cr(III) by sulfite and bisulfite chitosans was fast during the first 60 minutes and was affected by the pH of the solution, contact time and temperature. Chromium collected on bisulfite was easily eluted with dilute sulfuric acid solution.
