2009 HERITAGE RESTORATION GRANT PROGRAM TOURISM ADVISORY COMMITTEE REQUEST TO FILL POSITION

Vernon City Council wishes to announce the commencement of the 2009 application period for the Heritage Restoration Grant Program. The intent of the grant program is to assist in the costs related to the restoration of the exterior, foundation and/or roof structures of heritage buildings listed on the Vernon Heritage Register. Specifi c details regarding grant application requirements, procedures and criteria are posted on the City’s website (www.vernon.ca), and are available for pick-up at the Development Counter at City Hall. Grant applications are now being accepted up to Tuesday, March 31, 2009. Any questions, please contact Dale Rintoul, City Planner at 250-550-3575 or The Council of the Corporation of the City of Vernon is seeking to fione (1) position on the Tourism Advisory Committee for a one year term. Membership on the Committee will be comprised of a total of 13 members, with 1 member from the community at large and 12 representatives from the local tourism sector. The Committee’s purpose is to increase year round tourism in the Vernon area with particular emphasis on overnight stays, to provide a communication channel between the local tourism sector and the City and to monitor the use of the Additional Hotel Room Tax.
