A Natural Gradient Tracer Experiment in a Heterogeneous Aquifer Showing Natural Attenuation

Hydrocarbons injected into a heterogeneous aquifer showed complex distribution patterns. Three dimensional groundwater models are required to simulate the field observations documented in this experiment. Natural biodegradation processes decreased injected hydrocarbon concentrations by 95% in fifteen months.
