SHIFT WORK AND BIOLOGICAL RHYTHMS

This report summarizes technological, economic and social reasons for the introduction of shift work, notes the extent of its use, and considers its effect on the health of shift workers. Some results of previous experimental studies of shift workers and different shift systems are presented and discussed.
