POLYMER ANALYSIS BY USING AUGER ELECTRON SPECTROSCOPY COMBINED WITH ULTRATHIN SECTIONING METHOD

Efficient polymer analyses were performed by Auger electron spectroscopy in combination with ultrathin sectioning which eliminated sample surface charging under the electron beam exposure and cryogenic sample cooling which prevented peak degradation for volatile components and thus permitted their accurate determination. High resolution Auger images were obtained, permitting accurate determination of Cl distribution of particles of acrylonitrile/vinylidene chloride copolymer (AN/VdCl).
