MULTIFILAMENT NEUTRON DETECTOR WITH NON-OVERLOADING PREAMPLIFIER

A large-area multifilament neutron detector using B/sup 10/F/sub 3/ is described. The detector is used for the study of neutron total cross sections in time-of-flight spectrometers with a neutron source from an electron linear accelerator. The non-overloading preamplifier prohibits overloading in the instrument due to the energetic impulse of gamma rays that arise in the linear accelerator. (tr-auth)
