ASSESSMENT OF ECOLOGICAL RISKS AND IMPLICATIONS FOR POLICY AND MANAGEMENT IN THE SAN BERNARDINO MOUNTAINS

1999
Air pollution and its relationship to the forest ecosystems of the San Bernardino Mountains must be evaluated in relation to a complex web of resource values and management issues. A clear identification and assessment of these values and issues are essential for the formulation and application of future policies needed to sustain the productivity of the forest ecosystem. Future policy must be fonnulated by resource managers, land-use planners, and stakeholders from the community. The needs and expectations of future generations must be one of the important issues addressed by this collaborative stewardship process.
