Rice Grower's Productive Investment and its Influencing Factors——A Case Study in Jiamusi of Heilongjiang Province

2012
Based on the input-output survey data of rice growing in 2009 from 305 rural households in Huanan and Huachuan counties of Heilongjiang province, this paper analyzes the rice grower's behavior of investment in production and its effects. This paper,by using Logit model, examines the factors that possibly affect the investment in the fixed production. The result shows that family size, proportion of non-agricultural employment, average family education level, cultivated areas, family operating income, credit level, and expectation of the minimum rice purchasing price have significant impact on the investment in fixed production, whereas disaster occurrence has no significant effect. However, the above factors have significant impact on investment in fixed production by using Tobit model. Based on the model test results, this paper proposes that it is essential to increase the rice grower's investment in fixed production and capital input in production, increase the minimum rice purchasing price, increase the scale in rice growing, enhance rice grower's education and make sure that rice growers will get access to loan for production on time.
