Application of Acoustic Wave Logging to Jixi Coal Field Exploration

The thickness of coal seams in Qiujia exploration area,Jixi coalfield is generally 0.5～1.5 m,and the roof and floor of coal seams are often made of the thick sandstone.The sonic time difference between coal seam and roof and floor mudstone reaches to 170 μs/m,and the relative peak value presented on logging curves is rather high.The curves which reflecting coal seam boundary are usually straight and clear, which are one of the main parameters of distinguishing coal seam,characteristics and thickness in the area.
