Isotonic Tracers: A Theoretical and Practical Manual for Biological Students and Research Workers

1960
This book is written as an introduction to the theoretical principles and practical applications of isotope methodology in the biological sciences. The contents of the text are divided into two parts. In the first part the authors deal with preparation of labelled compounds, measurement of stable and radioactive isotopes, determination of radioisotopes in biological preparations, interpretations of radioactivity measurements, radioautography, hazards and safeguards in the use of radioisotopes, examples of radioisotopes used in biological work, and use of isotopic tracers in the study of the kinetics of biological processes. This part of the text is a carefully selected sampling of the work done in the field. The examples are chosen to give the student a broad background in the application of both stable and radioactive isotopes used in biological studies. The second part of the book contains a series of practical exercises designed to teach the student the techniques of
