The invention discloses a method for the hot plug of a user identification card and a mobile terminal. The embodiment of the invention senses the plug-in and pull-out actions of an SIM card through a sensor. When the sensor senses the plug-in of the user identification card, the initiation of the user identification card is triggered; or when the sensor senses the pull-out of the user identification card, business programs related to the user identification card are stopped. Compared with the polling mode sensing the plug-in and pull-out of the SIM card in the prior art, the method greatly reduces occupied system resources and improves the operating efficiency of the system.
