The expression of glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor in rat model of irritable bowel syndrome

2010
Objective:To detect the expression of glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor(GD-NF)in the rat model of irritable bowel syndrome. Methods:A total of 45 rat models of irritable bowel syn-drome were randomly divided into ISB1,ISB2 and control group.Acetic acid and chronic activation were used to induce irritable bowel syndrome model of ISB1 group and ISB2 group, respectively.Expression ofcolon myenteric plexus GDNF protein in the three groups was detected and compared with immunohisto-chemistry method. Results:Expression of GDNF protein was significant higher in ISB1 group than that in ISB2 or the control group(Pboth0.010),while comparison between the latter two groups showed no significant differences(P0.05).Conclusions:In the circumstance of inflammation, expression of GDNF is increased in irritable bowel syndrome models of rat suggesting an increased demand of GDNF for neurons and glial cells. It′s assumed that GDNF is involved to the development of intestinal inflammation by protecting colonic myenteric plexus neurons and promoting their regeneration,it may also contribute to the recovery of intestinal mucosa from inflammation.
