High Temperature Performance of Domestic Hard Asphalt and Asphalt Mix

In order to improve high temperature performance of asphalt pavement,more and more hard-grade asphalt has been used in highway engineering.This paper focuses on the performance of two domestic hard-grade asphalts:JIA 50 and YI 50.Using conventional tests and SHRP binder tests,the paper analyzes performances of two hard-grade asphalt binders.The grading design method is researched.By means of wheel track test,creep test and resilience modulus test,the performance of mixture with hard-grade asphalt is evaluated.The result shows that the modulus of resilience and the splitting strength of hard-grade asphalt mixtures are good.The high temperature performance of the YI 50 asphalt is better than that of the JIA 50 asphalt.The present result indicates that the correlation between high-temperature stability and the 60 ℃ dynamic viscosity is better than that between high-temperature stability and the 25 ℃ penetration.
