O uso de atividades práticas no ensino de Ciências em escolas públicas do município de Vitória de Santo Antão - PE

The practical activities are surely one of the best methodological resources in facilitating the teaching-learning process, because besides awakening interest in the scientific world, they also allow the formation of knowledge and critical positioning of the student about the world around him. However, it is clear that, as a rule, the lectures are more valued. In this sense, the present study evaluated, characterized and encouraged the use of practical classes in Science Education in two schools of Vitoria de Santo Antao / PE, one of the Rural Zone (Duque de Caxias) and another of Urban Zone (August 3). Data were obtained from visits and questionnaires for teachers of the schools involved. The results revealed that the Duque de Caxias School has better conditions and greater commitment by teachers to conduct practical classes in relation to School August 3. Lack of resources (infrastructural and materials), classes with high numbers of students and the unavailability of educators were the main causes given by teachers from both schools for the low implementation of practical classes. Based on these results, workbooks  were prepared  to 6th to 9th graders of elementary school, in order to assist teachers and students in the teaching-learning process.
