TURFA UTILIZADA NA RECUPERAÇÃO AMBIENTAL DE ÁREAS MINERADAS: METODOLOGIA PARA AVALIAÇÃO LABORATORIAL

2003
This paper discusses the use of a peat ore, mined in State of Sao Paulo, Brazil, to improve both the physical and chemical soil properties of a sand mined area undergone environmental recuperation. A methodological proposal of laboratory assays is given. This study compares the results between laboratory assays from soil samples in their original state, and those where the soil has variable peat contents. Porosity, hydraulic conductivity, bulk density, cation exchange capacity and buffering were studied. The results showed expressive modifications for those soil properties in that this peat can be recommended as a remarkable auxiliary in those disturbed areas’ environmental recuperation programs.
