An implant (2) for use in the treatment of urinary incontinence in a patient comprising: an implantable elongated tape (4) having a multiplicity of openings formed through the thickness thereof, the tape having a first end region (6) and a second end region (8) longitudinally opposite the first end region (6); and first and second biocompatible attachment (16) fixed to the first and second regions (6, 8) of the end of the tape, respectively, characterized in that each element of bio-compatible attachment (16) having greater rigidity than the tape (4), and each fastener (16) further comprises a central portion (22) body and a plurality of portions (24) spaced apart extending outward laterally from the central portion (22) body.
