Effect of Early Maladaptive Schemas on Personality Disorders, Internalizing Psychological Disorders and Well-Being among Adults

Objectives: Early maladaptive schemas that develop among adults due to mal-parenting by their parents directly influence personality disorders, internalizing psychological disorders and well-being among adults. Main aim of the present study was to examine the effect of early maladaptive schemas on the prediction of personality disorders, internalizing psychological disorders and well-being among adults. Method: Present study was based on cross-sectional survey research design. Young Schema Questionnaire, Personality Diagnostic Questionnaire, Depression Anxiety Stress Scale and Warwick Edinburg Mental Well-being Scale were used for data collection. Sample of the present study comprised of 100 adults. It is descriptive research which was completed in one year. The study was conducted in Sargodha. Results: Pearson correlation and linear regression analysis were used to analyse the data. All schemas have significant positive effect on disorders and well-being. Conclusion: All hypotheses were supported in this investigation and the underlying assumptions of the study were proved as schemas significantly predicted personality disorders, depression, anxiety, stress and well-being Keywords: Early maladaptive schemas, personality disorders, internalising psychological disorders, well-being
