Mortalidad por enfermedades carenciales e infecciosas digestivas en La Zubia (Granada) (1931-1945)

2018
Mortality rates in the general population are conditioned by various endogenous and exogenous factors. This study aims to analyse deficiency and digestive infectious diseases’ related mortality in La Zubia (Granada), and contextualise it within the political, socio-economic and health context.Longitudinal descriptibe study of mortality associated to deficiency and infectious digestive diseases between 1931-1945, employing the death registry and encoding causes of death according to the Classification of Causes of Historical Mortality (CCHM).The most prominent causes of all deaths were diarrhea and enteritis with 158 deaths out of a total of 871, followed by nutritional problems (40 non-infectious causes of death). It can be argued that this rise in mortality may be related to the sociosanitary circumstances of this period.
