A process for preparing compounded starch derivatives

1999
The invention relates to a method of producing a particulate preparation which contains starch derivatives. According to the inventive method, particulate preparations with a high content of starch derivatives can be obtained from liquid systems that contain such starch derivatives. Said particulate preparations have a grain size that is suitable for processing to solid detergents and cleaning agents. The method substantially comprises the following steps: a) providing, in a mixer, a slurry that contains a mixture of a starch derivative with a liquid solvent which dissolves at least part of the starch derivative, and a solid carrier material, b) drying the slurry with superheated vapor at a pressure of less than 900 mbar and a drying temperature in the range of 40 DEG C to less than 100 DEG C, c) cooling off the mixture thus obtained to a temperature below the drying temperature, and d) forming granules during the drying process or during the cooling of the mixture or the melt that is possibly formed.
