Changes in rats cardiovascular 99mTC-MIBI build-up after cell phone irradiation

2017
The idea of this study was to investigate distribution of 99m Tc-MIBI in the heart after cell phone irradiation. Variations in the exposure will have a profound effect on the 99mTc -MIBI build-up. 150 male albino rats were randomly divided in 25 groups and after caudal vein injection of 500 μCi (18.5 MBq) 99m Tc -MIBI, irradiated (for 15 or 30 minutes) to cell phone networks up-link frequency (900, 1800, 2100 MHz). The rats were decapitated just 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes after radiotracer injection, and organ activity was measured in a dose calibrator. Statistical analysis was carried out using SPSS statistical software. The results showed that heart specific activity in the control group had increased during 60 min after injection. the same as radiotracer accumulation in control group, in all experiment groups after 15 and 30 min cell phone radiation, there were no significant differences between 30, 45 and 60 min heart specific activity (P>0.05). Blood specific activity decreased gradually with increasing time, during 60 min post-injection, in all groups; but in 2100 MHz group, there was a significant permanent increase in post irradiation blood activity and this feature decreased heart-to-blood ratio compare to other groups. The Troponin I concentration in all groups showed no significant changes. It may be concluded that the call with a cell phone may increase the blood radiotracer activity and decreased in heart-to-blood ratio. Because billions of humans are now using cell phones extensively,  it is essential that all users around the world give advice  for these ubiquitous modern devices.
