Synthesis of polyaniline-modified MnO2 composite nanorods and their photocatalytic application

Abstract Polyaniline-modified MnO 2 composite nanorods were successfully synthesized by interfacial polymerization on MnO 2 nanorods followed by the chemical oxidative polymerization of aniline. The composites were characterized in detail by multiform techniques: TEM, SEM, IR, UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectra. The photocatalytic activity was experimented by the photodegration of methylene blue, methyl orange and rhodamine B under visble light, respectively. The photocatalytic activity results show that the polyaniline-modified MnO 2 composites show higher photocatalytic efficiency than that of polyaniline and MnO 2 .
