Universal optical properties of graphane nanoribbons: A first-principles study
2012
Abstract In the present study, the optical properties of graphane and graphane nanoribbons have been investigated from their first principles. Unlike graphene nanoribbons, for which the optical properties are dependent on edge shapes and widths, the optical characteristics of graphane nanoribbons are independent of these two properties. We found that the dielectric function spectra of graphane nanoribbons are very similar to the spectrum of two-dimensional graphane. For parallel-polarized light, the dielectric function spectra of graphane nanoribbons have their largest peaks at 9.8 and 11.7 eV. For perpendicular-polarized light, the two main peaks are 6.8 and 13.2 eV.
