Research on distributed optical-fiber monitoring of biaxial-bending structural deformations

2019
Abstract Concrete structures are often subjected to loads in both directions, resulting in deflections in both directions. To comprehensively and automatically monitor these continuous deformations, this paper uses a distributed optical fiber to monitor the strain of a structure and establishes the strain-deflection relationship by both an improved conjugate beam method and a BP neural network. The improved conjugate beam method applies to simple structures, such as simple beams, and the BP neural network applies to complex structures. A concrete simple beam model is used to verify the two methods. The results show that the relationships between the strain and deflection that are established by the two methods have high precision, and the results of the BP algorithm are closer to the actual deflections than the results of the explicit function method.
