flame retardant composition having good optical and physical properties. It comprises a mixture of an aromatic polycarbonate with from 0.001 to about 2.0 parts per 100 parts of aromatic polycarbonate of an additive selected from the group consisting of organic salts of alkali metals and alkaline earth or mixtures thereof, from 0.001 to about 2.0 parts per 100 parts of aromatic polycarbonate of an inorganic halide selected from the group comprising the halides of alkali metals and alkaline earth metals or mixtures thereof. Application to the manufacture of transparent and translucent sheets.
